Right here – right now!

First of all I must say Happy New Year!

There are lots of different messages at this time of year about planning for your best year yet.  Today I just want to remind you of a simple truth – the value of time.

I have sent out the link before to a video that I have on my browser home page but here it is again if you want to remind yourself - watch the video

If you prefer to read it, here you go …

Imagine there is a bank which credits your account each morning. It carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every penny, of course! Well, every person has such a bank. Its name is TIME.   Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever you have failed to invest to good purpose.

It carries over no balance.

It allows no overdraft.

Each day it opens a new account for you.

Each night it burns the remains of the day.

If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow". You must live in the present on today's deposits.  Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!

The clock is running. Make the most of today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who has failed an exam.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper or a football manager.

To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask someone who is on minimum wages and has just been made redundant.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask a starving child in Africa.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who has missed the train.

To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who has just avoided a serious accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Time waits for no one.  Follow up every lead, make every second count, always be closing, every opportunity missed is money lost.

Remember …

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That's why it's called the present!

What do you do with your 86,400?

I’ve got another video for you this week.

It’s one that some of you will have seen before and if not you may well have heard the ‘story’, but I think it’s worth reminding ourselves regularly of the key message.  In fact, I have it set up on my internet homepage so that it plays to me every morning when I switch on my computer.  I don’t sit and watch the whole video every day, but just the fact that it starts playing reminds me of the importance of its message.

Without further a-do, I invite you to watch this video and just take a moment to think what you’re doing with that very precious commodity.
