The last full week of April each year is Administrative Professional’s Week, with Wednesday being Admin Professional’s Day. I thought therefore that in celebration of our industry I’d do a post each day during the week.
Wondering where to start I thought maybe the history of the secretary would be a good place and on trawling the internet I found this article which takes us right back to before the start of the Roman Empire!
Obviously things were a bit different back then (stone tablets and chisels rather than electronic tablets and fat finger syndrome!) and it wasn’t until after WWI that the emergence of what we would commonly think of as a secretary (ie. women) emerged.
